The 5 songs I'm listening to this week and why. 9/13/20 - 9/19/20

  1. DJ Khaled - “Never Surrender” (Feat. Scarface, John Legend, Jadakiss, Anthony Hamilton, Meek Mill & Akon”

A song about jealousy and envy and snitching. I relate to this because I have gone to prison because somebody ratted on me and yet I didn’t rat and have never ratted on anybody myself. It’s crazy. I mean as a criminal living a life of crime, its your job to try to get away from the police and it’s their job to catch you. That’s the game. You will ALWAYS lose if you don’t get out in time. When you do get caught like I did, you are paying the price for the crimes YOU have done. It has never crossed my mind to tell on somebody else for something I have done. I got caught! What does that have to do with them? Everybody is not like me however and the only way to win is not play. Which is why I am a law abiding citizen no longer worried about rats or anything but my principles remain the same and I feel this song for that.

  2. Romeo Santos - “Eres Mia”

For a song that came out 6 years ago in 2014 and has 909 MILLION views on YouTube, I feel bad knowing I heard it for the first time in the summer of 2018 while hanging out in the Dominican Republic. Me and my homie Moe were walking around the town of Bayahibe one night and met the most beautiful German/Russian woman and we hung out for hours and she introduced me to this song. Close your eyes and wish you were in love… I do.

  3. Hkeem & Temur - “Fy Faen”

Norwegian Hip Hop and this song is dope af! “Fy faen, fy, fy faen, slanger kommer og går som en boomerang”. This is the first Norwegian song I ever learned! A hit, is a hit, is a hit! No matter the language. That’s the cool thing about music, juuuust listen! When I first moved to Oslo this is all we were listening to! Swimming in the fjord at sørenga sjøbad with my speaker blasting! #Robventures

  4. Nefew - “Water Sandwich”

“You can’t tell me shit bout the struggle, you never ate a water sandwich, drink a couple cups of water, til it feel like you ate a sandwich” LOL Maaaaan what do you know about it?!?!? I been through the struggle for real, for real! Music like this will always peak my interest because it’s really a soundtrack to my life.

  5. WHØ:22 - De Vaux

The Instruments in this are amazing! Probably why the album this song comes from is titled “String Theory” Wait! Is it a double entendre!?! I think it might be! No vocals just music. Roll a J and sit back! This song and album is on Spotify so go check it out there. Follow this Los Angeles based musician on twitter @Danie1Espinoza
