The Time I Lived On A Bus In Glenoma, Washington.
Glenoma, Washington. Doesn’t Glenoma sound like a cancer or some type of sickness? People that live in Washington state couldn’t even tell you where it is. I’ll include a map at the bottom and some other pictures.
I got to Unincorporated Lewis County from Dublin, IE. (Ireland). That’s quite the move! Everyone was in town was like what?!? Moving there from Seattle would be insane news so imagine how people felt about me! I came back to the states from living in Ireland. I also went and traveled to London and Paris cause why not?!? It was $17 to fly from London to Dublin and only $27.81 to fly from Dublin to Paris. More on that another time tho.
My wonderful friend Kaniesha “The Husky Queen” has this bad ass bus. I mean like a 1960’s big ass bus that’s been converted into a home and she lives on it! Wait, would she be The Husky Princess instead? Mama Ronda is as still as spicy as she’s ever been and may actually be the true Queen… hmmm… ok either way these are regal people and they have an abnormal amount of huskies. Either they are the best Husky or the worst Husky breeders cause they needed but then kept ALL the Huskies! haha Like 7 of them lol. (Orrrr, maybe their huskies just have a few humans). I am getting sidetracked! Kaniesha has a bus. I’m so ridiculous lol. ANYWAYS Madam Kaniesha let me live on that bus. Proving time and time again to be one of the best people you’ll ever have the pleasure of knowing, despite her RBF lol. If you know, you know lol but look, I was having a rough go at it (it being LIFE haha) and I was in a depression and spiraling downward. Kaniesha, bless her soul, took on a work project out of state and invited me to come along and it all really just for me. To help me, she did that. No one could ever tell me anything negative about her because I know what she’s done for me. Along my journey there have many people that have helped me and they’re all important because without only one of em, I would not be where I am today. I thank her, I thank them.
I really liked Glenoma! I look back on it now as one of the best times of my life. It was so much fun hanging out with my Husky buddy Grizzly and exploring all around. Honestly some of my best times there were in the markets and grocery stores haha, How can I explain this to make sense to you hmmm? Glenoma is so small (population 797) that everything becomes exciting! I don’t know maybe its just me, but in order to make it fun, I just look at it all as an adventure. So wandering around a new market, in a new town, in a different state was awesome to me. Do you know I went to the same market buying beer for weeks before I found they had a whole other section with cool ciders and all types of other beers! The Market was in Randle (population 1,852). Nothing is in Glenoma haha.
Mount Rainier is close by! There is so much nature to see and waterfalls to experience. Oh!! By the way the ABSOLUTE BEST milkshakes that I have ever had IN MY LIFE come from a 5 minute drive away place called Huff ‘N Puff. This amazing restaurant The Huff N’ Puff is in the town of Morton, Washington (Population 1,852) which is the town right after Glenoma on Highway 12. I ate there soooo much. If you live even within 100 miles of this place you need to go see it and eat there and have a shake! The Burgers are bomb too. I mean I’ve had everything from their menu almost and I’ve been more than happy! I even got a T shirt!
All in all, Glenoma was awesome. I hadn’t lived in Washington since I was 21 when I lived in Seattle. The two places are nothing alike however and people from Seattle have likely never heard of Glenoma but who cares because I am a fan! The bus was on a property that was basically a homestead. There was pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, and dogs! The one bad thing was that for the first couple weeks I was there, there was no hot water heater so showers were cold af! Thank goodness Evan came and fixed it. I’m like I’d rather take a bird bath than be in a cold shower. A bird bath is a soapy rag and bottled water. You just gotta hit the main areas, face, pits, crotch, and booty! If you don’t have an Evan in your life, you should. Thanks buddy!
One of the coolest things ever in my life happened as well on this bus! I cooked the best ribeye you ever saw on the propane space heater! Pictures will be below. I first saw Kaniesha cooking on it. Or rather, heating up food on it. So I had the idea like if you can reheat food on it, which is cooking it, why can’t you cook something that’s raw?? You can! Annnd I even learned how to hook up that propane tank too! So!… me and my survival skills are getting pretty serious. lol. Still haven’t been camping yet though. The list of broken promises is getting long. haha
We also made upgrades to the bus over time. Started a “Bus Fund” out of our spare change and it was a lot too! Got a dvd player with a remote for the tv. Got another refrigerator. A mini Super Nintendo for me to remain ABSOLUTELY UNDEFEATED in Mario Kart! . I added a big fan. The fridge was the real game changer though. Obviously, then we could then store food and didn’t have to go out for every meal and we could really grocery shop.
All towns around it were cool too! I had some awesome pizza at a pizzeria that was built inside of a train!! That was in Elbe, Washington (Population 54). Pizza and Faygo Root Beer. Yum.
Morton, Elbe, Randle, and Glenoma! Crazy that I was all around those areas and basically directly from Europe and I had a blast. I’m not a person that needs or even wants the city life. Small towns, nature, mountains, lakes, waterfalls. Everything you need to keep yourself entertained has already been provided for you! I love the outdoors.
Have any of you ever been to any of these places?? Leave a comment below and tell me about it!
