Getting Vaccinated Made My Dreams Come True!
The Covid-19 Vaccine has split the world apart. I think that is very unfortunate. There is so much passionate energy from both sides defending their positions. I can’t speak for everyone, however, I can only speak for myself.
I wasn’t really for it or against it in the beginning. I’m one of those people who had never in life gotten even a flu shot. Every year I would see everyone line up for a flu shot and then immediately get the flu! Then tell me how the symptoms were less because they had the shot. Riiight. Meanwhile, I’ve never gotten the flu shot annnd I’ve never gotten the flu either. So I felt healthy, why would I get the jab?
What changed my mind was Ma Dukes! My Mom is a strong, badass, cancer survivor who was high risk. I would be absolutely devastated if anything happened to her. I would do anything to help her, that would be in her best interest. Life isn’t always about you. Sometimes, hell, most of the time it’s about other people. The people you love and the people that love you. So if getting the vaccine could help other people, I thought why not? I’m healthy, that’s a fact, but everyone else isn’t. Those people need help too. They need other people to look out for them over the other person’s selfishness or conspiracy based thoughts. My Mother is never going to send me down a path of destruction. She had already gotten her jabs and was fine so I did too. But let’s talk about some conspiracy thoughts for a second. Why not?
Depopulation and all that mess. People talking about how the vaccine was going to kill the people who took it. I heard those things and figured “fuck it!” I was chasing my dreams of living and working in Norway and the rest of Europe. If I died while chasing my dreams, I was ok with that. People die everyday while NOT chasing their dreams, and the jab was the only way to do it. I have definitely put some crazy substances that I was unsure of in my body before, so I couldn’t use that as an excuse. I know a woman, a heroin addict, who won’t get the vaccine because she doesn’t know what’s in it and it might kill her… Bitch! You do HEROIN!!! Have you done all the research on what’s in that? You call up a shady ass drug dealer, dealing an even shadier substance, you have no idea what’s in it, and then you inject it into your body! Whatever the fuck is in the vaccine CANNOT be worse than heroin! SMH. I digress. Ultimately, I believe everyone should do what’s best for them in their own life. Whatever your opinions and beliefs are, just do that. I’m healthy, I’m not too worried about it. I just had to do it in order to go to Europe and definitely to get into Norway.
I have been to 14 countries, 7 Greek Islands, and 9 US States in 2021. It would’ve never been possible without the jabs and that’s a fact. It’s my belief that I went to more European countries for sure than any other American. I know I DEFINITELY went to more US States than any European. That was because of border restrictions but still. I think it’s pretty cool that I was able to see so much of the world this year. Most of those countries had mask mandates and testing at the border to get into, but some of them didn’t. All the countries outside of the EU weren’t testing at all. I went to Albany a couple times this year and they had no requirements for Covid. No PCR tests, no vaccine checks, no masks, nothing. They only had 14 cases too! As a result, while I was there, I saw hella Americans! I was hanging with two twins from Minnesota, a Cuban dude from Miami, and a Hispanic girl that went to Arizona State University. I had so much fun. Everything was normal. From there I went to North Macedonia and again it was the same thing. After that I was only in EU countries and everything was about the rona. When I was in Paris, they changed the law to make it so you had to show proof of having the vaccine to even eat OUTSIDE of a restaurant. In the States, New York for example, you had to show proof of a vaccine to go inside any bars. It sure seems to me like the world is trying to make things tough on those who are unvaccinated, so while not exactly mandatory, it’s essential to be vaccinated to do a lot of things.
All I know is that I did what I considered to be the best decision for me and it made all my dreams come true. I’ve gotten to continue to see the world. I’ve met some of the most amazing people ever. I’ve been able to be employed all around the world. I was teaching in Barcelona and Stockholm. Once I got the EU Covid Health Pass and the QR code that comes with it, I was able to enter Norway. That allowed me to interview and receive a job offer and contract for a bar in my dream location of Tromsø. With that I was able to apply for a residence permit that I am still waiting on as of this publication. I’m hopeful however that it will be approved. Without being vaccinated there was a strong 0% chance lol. Now I at least have a fighting chance! I’ve got my fingers crossed. Please cross yours for me too!
Be fearless in the pursuit of your dreams. I made an executive decision for ME. I haven’t regretted it, but that’s just my take. What’s yours? Leave a comment and tell me!
