The 5 songs I'm listening to this week and why. 8/23/20 - 8/29/20

This week we have a contribution from my lovely Turkish friend Buks, all the way from Turkey! This first song is the song she’s listening to on repeat and I have put her words in quotations. Follow her on instagram at http://www.instagram.com/aybukey

She also has an amazing blog! So if you are into art check it out at https://uwithumlaut.wordpress.com/2020/08/11/heavenly-unmatched-mauritius/

Ok here is this weeks list!

  1. Octave One & Ann Saunderson - “Black Water” (Full Strings Vocal Mix”)

“There are many reasons why this song is my favourite song, first of all it is longer than your typical song and it allows the listener to go on a journey where one can reflect on themselves longer, and in more depth. I think it is a persuasive song. It starts off with strong violins that makes you pause for a minute and grasps your attention. It has about two minute intro and when the tambourines starts you start grooving and you cant help it but move with the rhythm that starts so subtly yet forcefully. Oh and the lyrics are so positive and i get filled with this good vibe and i get so hopeful. I love it so so so much, my friends probably have million videos of me turning up this song at a party or at the beach and just dancing all the negativity away with through this song:))))” -

  2. The Von Howlers - “Cardiac Arrest”

This band fucks me up in the best way possible! What kind of music of this?!?! Nobody puts the Von Howlers in a box!! Keep on rocking on!!

  3. Travis Tritt - “Whiskey On Ice” (Acoustic version Live in Orlando)

Y’all gonna quit acting like I don’t like country music! I get down with the get down. I’m bout to get some whiskey on ice riiight now! For years I never even knew this was a cover!

  4. 2KBABY - “Old Streets”

What an amazing voice on this guy. I relate to so much of this song. Dealing drugs and the disappointment of your family finding out. The judgements of other people when they don’t understand your situation. The desire to get out of negativity and live your best life. This song is amazing! There are so many talented people all around the world who just don’t have out an outlet or a platform. It’s amazing what people can do when given a chance with exposure.

  5. The Lox - “Bout Shit” Feat. DMX

DMX IS BACK!!!!!! Sounds healthy and the music has that RNS feel. As a man who has battled with addictions issues as well, I have soooo much respect for DMX’s journey. He’s a troubled, conflicted man but has a huge heart and struggles to get out of his own way. Fame and riches will never change that. You have to deal with that first. I hope he continues on. Gives me a lot of hope! Jadakiss continues his record streak of 20+ years making music and never having a wack verse! I feel like Sheek Louch gets better and better with every passing year, he is amazing! I still have a “Walk Witt Me” cd! Styles P is hard and always has been and always will be. I love his branching out with the Juice Bars! Ruff Ryders!!!!!
