I Had The Best Pizza Ever In Budapest! ššŗ
You know Iād love to tell you that Iām a food savant and that I focus on traditional cuisines from the places I travel, but that wouldnāt be entirely true. As adventurous as I am and as tasty as the food of a country may be, I find myself always eating pizza haha. People ask me all the time like āYo whats the food like in Israel? Hungary? Poland?ā and Iām just like āThe PIZZA is BOMBā lmao.
Iām just sayinā¦ I like pizza. I do not feel less cultured for eating pizza everywhere I go. I actually feel MORE cultured for experiencing that countryās take on pizza haha. Thatās all you gotta say if somebody ask you. Thatās the defense right there. Look, I was in Poland at Pizza Hut and it was so good haha. In Israel my dumb ass ordered a pepperoni pizza when pepperoni is not kosher! ugh. I donāt know exactly what was on top of my pizza in Tel Aviv but it wasnāt pepperoni. Itās the little thingsā¦ The pizza was still bomb af though so shout out Dominoās Tel Aviv.
Pizza is just so easy to order and so hard to mess up that if youāre somewhere and canāt figure out food, just look for pizza. No shame in that right? I was in Budapest travelling back to Norway from Greece and I was taking pictures in front of Saint Stephenās Basilica. I was so hungry and when I looked over yonder, I saw pizza!! I walked over to the shop and omg that smell of pizza filling the air was life. The slices were huge and the crusts were crispy on the outside but soft and doughy on the inside. Pure Heaven. Hungary is one of those countries where the currency exchange leave you with a really high number of cash. For example 1 american dollar is equal to 307 Hungarian Forints, so it was wild to me to see prices be in the thousands! Pulling out a $500 bill to pay for a slice of pizza will never not be strange to me and will always seem cool like Iām rich or something lol. Yes I know itās the equivalent and not the number but damn let me have this haha. The name of the pizza shoppe was Pizza Me and you can follow them on instagram @PizzaMeHu. I actually ate there twice because it was so good. I do like variety donāt get me wrong, I just like whatās good more.
The only pizza Iāve had that was super āiffyā is pizza from kebab places. For the same reasons you donāt get tacos from a burger joint or burgers from a taco joint, do not let pizza from a kebab place be your first choice. I mean, its not HORRIBLE itās just not that great. And that opinion is from sober me ANNND drunk me after the bar at 2am. Kebab pizza never tastes that good. I donāt know what it is about it or why. When at a kebab store, you need to get kebab and not pizza. Kebab is bomb too! Iāve eaten a lot of kebab pizza but thatās only because itās so late everything else is closed. Itās also cheap and you know what they say, āYou get what you pay for".
Pizza is just great. Even stateside, for example, my Mother Ma Dukes lives in the state of Oregon in the Pacific Northwest and Iāve had some great pizza pies out there too! There used to be this spot in Corvallis called Pizza Pipeline and it was wonderful. In the Summer they would do two slices of pizza and a small drink for like $1.50. They closed over a beef with the owner of the space they were leasing. I hear they are still around in Idaho and Washington State. Thereās also a place in Lebanon, Oregon called James Gang Pizza and it too is wow! Speaking of Washington State btw my favorite place there is called Pagliacciās and the oneās I have been to were in Seattle. In Los Angeles there was a place that was so good but itās permanently closed. It was called Damianoās Mr. Pizza. The place itself was dirty af most of the time and they NEVER had an āAā in the window for their grade from California which is not good at all. Having a āBā is not great and when I lived there and would eat there, they were always rocking a fat āCā in the window but the PIZZA was good! They didnāt know how to clean a store but they could cook pizza out their ass! There would be flies everywhere and all type of stuff. The experience at Damianoās was like being in the slums, but having the best food ever.
To anyone reading this, tell me some of your favorite pizza experiences down in the comments! I would love to know what your favorite pizza is and where its from!!! Cheers mate!
