Travel Tips #3 - Speakers
You have many choices when it comes to speakers to take on your travels. I’ll tell you about the speakers I own. It’s called the Wonderboom by Ultimate Ears. I have the OG Wonderboom 1’s. There’s now the next generation Wonderboom 2’s out in stores. The 2’s are better of course and upgraded in many ways, but if a company is going to charge me double the price, the product better be twice as good. The Wonderboom 2 is not twice as good as the 1, so I currently own two 1’s and here’s why.
The Wonderboom is a fantastic speaker! It’s loud as hell. I was once at an outdoor basketball court in Oslo, Norway with some friends and had my speaker blasting. Some other people shooting around were digging my music and were wondering where the hell the sounds were coming from. As you will see in a picture below, the wonderboom is about the size of a coffee mug. I had my wonderboom placed on the ground behind the pole of the court so that it wouldn’t get knocked over my loose ball. You could hear the speaker over three outdoor courts and it was just the ONE speaker!
Some cool things about the wonderboom is that it floats on water! It’s waterproof and can withstand being in the water for up to 30 minutes. It has a cool hanging loop so you can hang it from your backpack or waist band or even in the shower! It has 10 hours of battery life and you can control the music from the speaker itself! The logo on top of the speaker allows you to play/pause the music and even skip the songs!
The best feature for me and the reason why instead of getting the 2 when it came out and instead getting a second 1 is because they connect to each other! Meaning that if you have 2 of them you can connect them by holding down the logos on top simultaneously for surround sound! These are the reasons why this is the speaker for me! It’s rugged, travels everywhere, and virtually indestructible. If you drop it you don’t have to worry about it breaking!
These speakers have become quite popular since I bought mine! I got mine for around $40 but now I see they’re sold out on the Ultimate Ears website and going for up to $100 on Amazon. As great as this speaker is, I’m not going to spend $100 on one. I got BOTH of mine for $100. At that price you might as well get Boom 3 which is being sold on the website for $149 and it’s in stock! You really can’t wrong with anything from their lineup, it’s all amazing. Two wonderboom 1’s are just what I own and they’ve done right by me over many countries. If you’re looking for a bluetooth. Go with Ultimate Ears. :)
